THE WAY OF THE WORLD
The serpent broke the
rat’s neck,
Just in time for the
snake to be meal at falcon’s nest
The beetles feast on
weeds
The birds feed on
bees
It goes on and on,
The strong preying on
the weak.
The wheel of time
rolls on undisturbed
Balancing the scales
of the world
I have seen from my
eagle’s nest,
A thousand running of
heads on streets
Just to go fix one
fat head’s meal.
Whether they slump,
faint or die,
Seems not worth a
person’s minutes
The strong made
for the weak
The more they get,
the harder for the weak
Clearly a man must be
strong,
Strong enough to
break from the rat race’s bonds
The serpent has
broken the rat’s neck
Just in time for the
snake to be meal at the falcon’s nest
It goes round and
round,
Indefatigable way
of the world.
